can i withdraw funds from my dads account i am the trustee?
my dad lives in the carribean there is not a joint power of attorney so he says he is not returning back to the uk. Can i sign for him he is getting forgetful. and needs someone to know that he is not dead abroad i want to explain to the bank that i will act on his behalf what do i do
You can only withdraw money from someone else’s account if you have the authority to do so, either as a trustee or as an Attorney. Check with the bank to see what powers you have and what their requirements are if you do not hold authority. If your dad lived in the UK and was no longer able to make decisions himself, you could apply to the Court of Protection to take over the management of his affairs. You should try and see what requirements there might be in the Caribbean.
