Karen Barrett, Chief Executive of unbiased.co.uk comments on the predicted rise in interest rates,

“While interest rates have remained at 0.5% for a staggering 21 months in a row, we are now seeing an increasing number of predictions stating that 2011 will almost definitely see a rise in interest rates.  This will be a welcome relief to savers but borrowers need to ensure they are prepared for the knock on effect this will have on their monthly mortgage rate – especially those who are coming to the end of their current deal. 

“According to our ‘find a mortgage adviser’ advice driver statistics, 32% of people searching for a whole of market mortgage adviser in November were looking specifically for re-mortgage advice.  Whatever your current mortgage position, it is vital for all homeowners to seek professional, whole of market advice on their mortgage so they are fully aware of the implications a rise in interest rates will have on them, and ensure they have the finances in place to cope with any increase to their monthly payments.”
