Appointing a solicitor

Engaging a solicitor is easy once you have decided which firm you would like to use – all you need to do is book an appointment. Many firms offer a fixed fee interview for your first consultation and you will be able to discuss the different ways of paying for your legal services on your first consultation.

Always get ready for the first interview by preparing any necessary paperwork that relates to your case in advance. It can be helpful to have a list of questions for your solicitor before you meet them.

At the end of the first meeting your solicitor should give you some idea of the options open to you; how much the case should cost and how long it may take to conclude. Your solicitor will then send you a detailed letter setting out his understanding of your case, your options for funding and explaining the next steps.
