How to listen to a podcast – downloading or podcasting

1. Download

Downloading your podcast allows you to save the podcast file onto your computer. You can then listen to this whenever you want and it also allows you to transfer the file onto your portable MP3 player or iPod.

In order to download the podcast file, click on the link using the button on the right hand side of your mouse and select the ‘save as’ option (or a similar option containing the word "save" – depending on your computer and settings). You should now be able to save the audio file to your computer. Remember to save it to a folder you'll be able to find again later.

If you prefer to listen to the audio file without having to download it, then click on the Download link using the left hand button on your mouse and the audio will play. Usually your default media player will open and the audio will start playing automatically.

2. Podcast

Podcasting is something very similar to subscribing to a magazine – it basically lets you automatically receive the latest podcast of your selected audio file as soon as it becomes available.

In order to sign up for a podcast you need to be connected to the internet. You will also need specific software (podcast software) that automatically checks for new podcasts from your specified series and downloads them for you. Podcast software is usually available to download free of charge.

You can follow our simple Step by Step guide to get your podcast subscription up and running.
