HAS YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLVE FIZZLED OUT ALREADY?

Nearly half of 2004s resolutions havent even lasted the month

Men are more likely to stick to their guns than women

Just one month on from New Years Day, over 4 million (44%) of the UK adults who embarked upon 2004 with a New Years resolution will have already seen their good intentions fall by the wayside, according to research* from IFA Promotion, the organisation promoting the benefits of independent financial advice.

The research, conducted by independent research agency, BMRB*, on behalf on IFA Promotion, shows that:

  • This year 7 million UK adults made a New Years resolution, over three million admitting it was the same as last year.
  • This years popular resolutions including giving up smoking (25%), being healthier (23%) and improving finances (51%).
  • Men actually show more commitment to their resolutions with over two thirds (69%) lasting longer than a month compared with less than half (49%) of women.

However without the support of expert advice and planning these financial resolutions may fall at the first hurdle; and become a good intention that, once again, failed to last.

David Elms, CEO of IFA Promotion, commented, The start of a new year provides the perfect impetus to improve your financial situation. Millions of people started the year with good intentions but lack staying power.  An IFA could increase their chances of making this years financial resolutions a success.
