HAS YOUR NEW YEAR RESOLVE ALREADY FIZZLED OUT?

- Nearly half of this year’s resolutions haven’t lasted the month -

Just one month on from New Year’s Day and almost half (46%) of the 14 million UK adults who embarked upon 2003 with a New Year’s resolution will have already seen their good intentions fall by the wayside, according to research* from IFA Promotion, the organisation promoting the benefits of independent financial advice.

Research shows that 7 million UK adults make the same resolutions year in year out, after failing to stay the distance.  Amongst this year’s most popular resolutions were familiar promises to give up smoking, lose weight and exercise more, plus an encouraging 6 million Brits pledging to tackle their finances in 2003.  But without the support of expert advice and planning, this resolution could well be crumbling already, set to become a long forgotten good intention, that once again failed to last.

David Elms, CEO of IFA Promotion commented, “Millions of people started the year with the best intentions, but already many lack staying power.  In order to stick to their financial resolutions in 2003, whether they involve pledging to save more or getting out of the red, sharing their goals with an IFA could increase their chances of making this year’s resolution a success.  “
