Lincoln backs IFAP and strong future for IFA sector

IFA Promotion today announced that Lincoln Financial Group (UK) has become its latest sponsor, demonstrating continued support for the IFA sector, post depolarisation.

IFAP is now sponsored by 28 companies, predominantly from within the investment, protection and pensions arena, but with fast-growing support from mortgage lenders and technology enablers.

Lincoln Financial Group looks after assets of 4.5 billion with approximately 823,000 life assurance, pension, unit trust and ISA policies in force on behalf of over 539,000 clients.

Brian Sceats, Marketing & Communications Manager of Lincoln commented, "Since September last year, we have invested considerable time and resource in building a powerful proposition to support our commitment to the IFA sector, which has included the launch of several new products, already doing well in the market.  Our support for IFAP forms a key part of our future strategy, demonstrating our ongoing desire to better understand the needs of the IFA and provide them with everything they need in the competitive market ahead."

David Elms, Chief Executive of IFA Promotion, said, "We're pleased to welcome Lincoln as a sponsor.  The recent upsurge in IFAP sponsorship as we enter uncharted waters for financial advice should help reassure IFAs that leading providers expect the independent sector to thrive on its unique and considerable merits."

1.  Independent Financial Adviser Promotion

IFA Promotion was established in 1989 to promote the value and accessibility of independent financial advice to the public.  It represents over 10,000 firms of independent financial advisers across the UK and is sponsored by 28 leading financial institutions. In 2003, over 330,000 consumers and businesses used IFA Promotion to find local independent financial advice.

IFA Promotion believes Independent financial advice should be:

* Affordable.  The option to take independent financial advice should be available, by right, to all - not just the wealthiest in society.

* Convenient.  IFAs should be available in the location of the consumer's choice, wherever they live in the UK.

* Transparent.  It must be clearly transparent to consumers who is able to offer independent financial advice and who is not.
