Deaf And Blind Consumers Now Able To Access Independent Financial Advice
Mini-Com (0800 083 0196)
Braille, audiotape and large print format.
IFA Promotion, the organisation promoting the benefits of independent financial advice, has made access to Independent financial advice for the deaf and blind significantly easier. IFA Promotion has set up a freephone mini-com number 0800 083 0196 and by calling 0800 085 3250 you can also request its consumer literature, including brochures and guides, in Braille, audiotape and large print format.
David Elms said: This will enable people who, up until now, have been limited in how they receive financial advice to access both professional advice over the mini-com as well as proper access to the supplementary paper work.
Elms continued: The financial services arena does tend to use jargon, which can be difficult to translate into sign language. The availability of the mini-com can help to cut down on the problem many people have with understanding the language. This should prove to be a useful tool for both the IFA and the consumer
To request Braille, audiotape or large print information call the IFA Promotion consumer hotline on 0800 085 3250 or to use the mini-com service call 0800 083 0196

Notes to Editors
1. Independent Financial Adviser Promotion
Independent Financial Adviser Promotion Ltd. was established in 1989 to promote the value and accessibility of independent financial advice to the public. It represents nearly 10,000 firms of independent financial advisers across the UK and is sponsored by 28 leading financial institutions.
IFA Promotions central belief is:
Consumers have a right to financial advice that is independent of the providers of financial products - i.e. independent financial advice.
Furthermore independent financial advice should be:
Affordable. The option to take independent financial advice should be available, by right, to all - not just the wealthiest in society.
Convenient. IFAs should be available in the location of the consumers choice, wherever they live in the UK.
Transparent. It must be clearly transparent to consumers who is able to offer independent financial advice and who is not.
