i need to know if i was earning £22,000 a year how much tax would i have to pay?

Assuming you are under age 65, and an employee, you will pay £1,790.80 national insurance and £3,105 in tax for the 2010/11 tax year. You will also pay tax on any investment or savings income you have unless it is invested in an ISA.
Your net monthly pay will be £1,425.35.
