New Year's Resolutions - West Midlands

DID YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION LACK STAYING POWER?

- 62% of New Year’s resolvers in the West Midlands will have already quit, reveals IFA Promotion -

Just one month on from New Year’s day and already 62% of the 1.5 million people that made a New Year’s Resolution in the West Midlands will have seen their best intentions fall by the wayside, that’s a staggering over half a million people says research by IFA Promotion, the organisation promoting the benefits of independent financial advice.

Whilst 600,000 people in the West Midlands resolved to sort out their finances from January 1st, without the support of expert advice and planning, this resolution could well be crumbling already.  The research also shows that, despite a fifth of people claiming to have stuck by last year’s resolution, 660,000 million people make the same resolution year after year.

David Elms of IFA Promotion said,  “People should commit to sorting out their finances rather than recycling the same resolution year in, year out.  By sharing their financial goals with an IFA, people could increase the chances of making this year’s pledge a success.”

To help you keep to your financial resolution, IFAs who are members of IFA Promotion are offering a free half-hour consultation without obligation.  To claim your free voucher, along with details of three participating IFAs in your area and a financial log book to help set 2002 off on the right footing call the freephone hotline on 0800 085 3250 or visit www.unbiased.co.uk

 Notes to Editors

1.       Independent Financial Adviser Promotion

Independent Financial Adviser Promotion Ltd. was established in 1989 to promote the value and accessibility of independent financial advice to the public.  It represents nearly 10,000 firms of independent financial advisers across the UK and is sponsored by 28 leading financial institutions.

IFA Promotion’s central belief is:

“Consumers have a right to financial advice that is independent of the providers of financial products - i.e. independent financial advice.”

Furthermore independent financial advice should be:

·        Affordable.  The option to take independent financial advice should be available, by right, to all - not just the wealthiest in society.

·        Convenient.  IFAs should be available in the location of the consumer’s choice, wherever they live in the UK.

·        Transparent.  It must be clearly transparent to consumers who is able to offer independent financial advice and who is not.
