Also if I want to train to become a Financial Advisor this year am I better to go straight for the Diploma?

Contact the chartered insurance institute for details of examinations local to you.
At the moment the minimum requirement is the Certificate in Financial Planning however the Diploma is becoming the standard from the end of 2012. You should start with the Certificate as the knowledge will help you build to the Diploma.
