In 2010 my life was about to change for the better. After a successful career in General Practice I was, at the age of 53, considering an early retirement and emigrating to the USA. My wife's American citizenship would offer me a Green card, but the biggest question at the time was how to make the most of my NHS pension. Montfort, and especially Geraint Davies, offered an innovative approach born from real expertise in the field. In 2010, Geraint opened a door to a future I could never have imagined and which, at the time of writing in 2016 is magnificent. As our emigration date approached in June 2012, Geraint and his advisors kept a steady hand on the tiller as the day grew near. I was able to obtain a pension transfer from the NHS to an international company based in Malta, which allowed me to make the very best of what I had at the time. No one should underestimate the complexities of these issues! There are shark-infested seas out there for the unwary and Montfort have a proven track record negotiating these difficult waters. I can recommend this firm wholeheartedly to anyone interested in emigrating and pension transfers. We will remain forever grateful to Geraint and his team.

I had occasion to use Montfort for answers to a pension dilemma I found myself in a few months ago. Basically, I had finished 23 years service with a very large international firm which provided me with a final salary pension scheme, and the option of taking a full pension or a tax-free lump sum and a reduced pension for life. I have moved to New Zealand and there are supposed advantages if you transfer your UK pension (before it is in payment) e.g. you can draw the pension in New Zealand, tax free, after transfer. I wanted to be as near sure as I could be as to what was the best route for me to follow. Montfort collected many details and took painstaking care to ensure they were following my wishes. This was further teased out by questionnaires and risk tolerance assessments. In a nutshell: the comprehensive report service provided to me was at my pace, completely independent and considered all aspects of my situation. At all times they answered the multitude of extra questions I kept coming up with. I am more than happy to recommend Montfort to anybody who wants to ensure they have the most up-to-date information available to enable them to make an informed decision rather than sticking a finger in the air and hoping for the best. I believe they are quite knowledgeable in their field, very experienced and have many years of accumulated wisdom in this department. In the end, I decided to draw the pension in the UK. This was the first recommendation I was given considering my risk tolerance. However, immediately following the Chancellors 20-14 Budget, the recommendation changed to take account of the more favourable conditions now available. Montfort gave me the best information for my situation and not what was going to provide the most revenue for them.
