What our clients say
My employer started a pension scheme, I wanted it to be in my control so Peter set it up for me. He also consolidated mine and my wife’s separate plans to maximise their benefits.
Peter was great in setting up pension plans and also helped us to make withdrawals from various investments to fund our emigration to Australia.
Peter’s advice and his professional demeanour were, and still are, faultless.
My husband had an imminent annuity maturing and I needed financial advice on my investments.
Peter helped us with my husband’s annuity, explaining patiently and clearly. He listened to our needs and acted upon them, guiding us where necessary. He has also become my adviser, sorting out investments to my best advantage. He has always kept us well informed and provided us with a well managed future.
In 2016 we retired to Norfolk from Derbyshire and wanted someone local to help with our financial matters. We engaged Peter before actually retiring and moving so he would be better placed to advise on retirement planning.
Peter has advised us on a range of issues including pensions / retirement planning & investments.
Some people honestly believe that they can take care of their own finances and to employ an advisor is a waste of money. Peter has blown such thinking out of the water as far as we are concerned. He has regularly been able to advise us of factors relating to, for example, tax and retirement planning that we could not have even thought of ourselves. The fees he has charged over the years have been easily paid for through the added financial value his advice has brought. Peter is not only very clearly accomplished in his field but also has a friendly, patient yet professional approach to clients which means he can explain quite complex financial issues in simple languag
I needed help in dealing with a small private pension and some savings in order to boost my limited income. Peter helped me a great deal. He studied my problem and offered possible solutions. He took time with me and was polite, patient and explained everything carefully and with a smile.
The outcome was better than I had hoped for and Peter has continued to keep an eye on how everything is working for me.
I cannot think of what or how Peter could improve his service. He was excellent. I was a little daunted by all the necessary paperwork, even though he explained it all and gave me time to take it on board and was always on the end of the phone if I needed further help.
My existing investments were charging for financial advice but as all these companies had done away with their financial advisors, I was not getting any advice. Peter helped to reorganise my portfolio from old investments (with higher charges) to better performing and lower cost investments.
My portfolio has continued to perform well and with Peter's advice and management, individual funds are sometimes changed according to their performance. Peter follows the financial markets and advises according to market trends and performance.
I needed to take a drawdown to help with family problems. Peter was more than helpful as this would not of been so easy if I tried to do it myself. The final result was more than what I wanted and I’m now sorted ready for my retirement.
I am more than happy with the results so I think nothing should of been done different or any better.
The existing adviser I was using became redundant due to his organisation being taken over. Peter answered all of our questions and concerns in a clear and honest way giving us the choice to invest wisely.
We don’t think Peter Barton could have done anything we agreed any better - when you’re happy with the service why change anything.
Having taken early retirement from the NHS I wanted advice about taking out a private pension. Peter helped me find a private pension. There is nothing he could have done better.
We were looking to invest a lump sum long term. Peter guided through options for potential investments and pensions. It is clear he is knowledgeable and has access to other specialists for things outside his speciality. Peter has always been readily available and responds to email very quickly, which was much appreciated. There was never any pressure to invest and we took our time to find the right solution for us.
Having both recently retired we realised that we needed advice on the best ways to optimise our pensions and investments. Peter took time assessing our circumstances and needs for the future. He explained the advantages and risks attached to the various options open to us. He handled all the transfers and changes agreed on and kept us informed on every step.
I do not think Peter could do any more to improve the advice and service we received.
About to retire I needed some independent and sensible advice on my current and future finances. I was keen to explore all options and needed to speak to someone that I could trust to keep my interests central to the discussions.
I met Peter for an initial consultation that was free of charge and this gave me the opportunity to decide whether he was the right professional for me and my circumstances. Peter was really thorough and worked hard to ensure he understood my situation and also my attitude to risk. I was able to trust that the options and advice he presented were suitable for me.
Peter was able to find an investment portfolio that suited my current and short term needs as well as planning for the longer term. Peter arranged all paperwork and each stage was clear and transparent. I really have no suggestions as to how Peter could have improved on the process. He was polite, patient and sensitive to the anxieties that are inherent in financial planning.
We needed someone to advise us on our savings and also my husbands pension. Peter helped us a lot with sorting our savings. Also my husbands pension was ready to be withdrawn. He came up with many obstacles when dealing with this. He worked very hard to get the end result.
I would like to highly recommend Peter.
After the death of my husband I needed help and advice to work out what I should and could do with the pension that was left to me. I had no idea where to start. Peter visited me on two or three occasions to gather as much information from me as possible regarding my future plans, financial situation and expectations and needs. He understood the situation and explained what my options were and how each one differed. Eventually with Peter's help and advice we narrowed the options down. This allowed me to come to a conclusion that seemed to work best for me in the circumstances. Importantly he provided me with some clarity that enabled a sensible, informed decision.
I'm really happy that I decided to use the services provided by Peter. It was a great relief to finally feel that I had made a good, informed choice with regard to my pension. Having made a final choice I'm happy that it was the best one for me and it seems to be working as planned with no problem.
Upon retirement at age 65, I realised with some dismay that simply using my company pension pot to buy an off-the-beg annuity would not provide me with a satisfactory level of income, given the current economic climate. Friends and colleagues all urged me to seek independent financial advice.
From reading reviews, I realised that Peter had been able to help a lot of people in a similar situation. He began by gathering as much information as he could about my financial circumstances, what sort of income my wife and I might need in the future and our attitude to risk. Then, without pushing me down any particular road (for instance, he did not dismiss out of hand the idea of buying an annuity) he explained in great detail each of the many options. While all of this information is widely available, I would not have been able to find my way through it without Peter to explain all of the implications.
I can't think of a single thing Peter could have done better.
With retirement looming quicker than I thought I needed help to sort my situation and Peter was recommended by a good friend of mine.
Peter was very clear with his advice and options available, explained fully all the various options/results. I'm very happy with the result - difficult to improve, had complete trust in him.
Recently moved to Norfolk and wanted a more local Financial Advisor, and we felt that our current financial arrangements were long overdue for review. Peter initially came to see us at our home to introduce himself and chat to us about what we wanted advice on and what our current situation was. Peter very quickly understood what we expected of him and what we were hoping to achieve through investments. He explained very clearly what we could expect from the company via his advice and most importantly instilled a sense of confidence in us that we hadn't felt with our previous advisor. Peter was extremely patient and was more than happy to explain again and again !! .....without making me feel stupid. He was meticulous in explaining the many documents we had to go through until satisfied that we understood what we were signing. It became obvious to us pretty quickly that here was someone prepared to put a lot of work in to achieve the best result possible.
I had recently returned from living in Asia for many years and needed advice in my existing pensions. Peter was extremely helpful and informative and gave me various options to achieve what I was looking to do. I was very impressed with his immediate response to my enquiries and cooperation.
In my opinion I think he did an exceptional job and I would not hesitate to seek his help again when I need it . I feel there is nothing more he could have done.
With only a few months until retirement I had 2 different company pension schemes. I wanted to combine both with one pension provider in order to maximise my pension fund.
Peter explained the different options available under the new pension rules in a clear, easy to understand way and helped me to choose the right plan for myself and my wife's needs. It was a stress free experience as he dealt directly with both companies on my behalf and kept me informed at each step in the process.
My pension arrangement was set up very quickly and I am extremely happy with the plan. I can now relax knowing both myself and my wife can enjoy our retirement.
I don't think Peter could have done any better, he was very friendly and helpful throughout and the service was carried out very professionally.
