What our clients say
When I first approached Unity Wealth Management I was coming out of work, getting close to retirement. By this time I’d already approached three financial advisers, none of whom had managed to deliver much in the way of good financial advice. They’d all let me down badly in terms of what they were offering. I had completely lost confidence in financial advice.
However, I thought I’d give it one last try and I searched on the web. At the end of the day I had to do something for retirement and, despite my sceptical opinion of financial advice, Unity seemed like a viable place to start.
I went down to their offices with my wife Marilyn for a chat and we were immediately struck by the approachable yet professional atmosphere. Me, my wife and Greg, who went on to become my financial adviser, sat down and went through every bit of my finances together. He spoke to us clearly and on our terms as we were certainly no experts on investments at this stage.
Greg felt that this wasn’t correct – he looked into it for me and managed to bring these together. It was all good, clear information and helped me to retire soon afterwards in a secure financial position.
Five years down the line and I still have an ongoing relationship with Unity. This hasn’t been constrained to just the annual review. At periods when the markets haven’t been performing so well I’ve gone down for additional meetings so we can decide on the best course of action to take.
As well, over the years me and Greg have established a strong personal relationship and built up a good bit of rapport. He has always done his utmost to keep us happy, in the bad times as well as the good.
Overall I would say that Unity provides clear and concise information that can help you make good financial decisions, regardless of whether or not you are well versed in the technical side of your finances. It’s advice you can understand, presented in layman’s terms. Where they excel is in making complex things simple.
As someone who has previously had bad experiences with financial advisers, Unity have been different. Unlike other advice firms, they don’t seem to be in it for themselves. They are thoroughly dedicated to everyone on their books and put the goals of their clients above all else.
I was 58 and looking to retire before 65. I didn’t know whether that was possible or not. I wanted to talk to someone about how to go about it. I approached Unity Wealth Management and Greg, my financial adviser at the firm, gave me the confidence that I could retire at 60 without heading towards financial disaster before we got to 75.
Prior to Unity, my wife and I had a string of financial advisers who were happy to come to our house, drink our tea and then we’d barely hear from them again. These were really never terribly helpful. With Unity, things were different.
We met on their premises where Greg really illustrated the impact of the financial decisions we were making. He used software that let us visualise what our financial decisions would mean for our future.
Since we developed our initial financial plan, we’ve had an ongoing relationship with Unity. In addition to our annual review, if we need to make a significant financial decision we can always go down to their offices and talk it through with Unity. We never feel rushed – we’re usually with our financial adviser for two to three hours at a time.
Over the next five years, my wife and I are planning to do a lot of travelling, spend a fair bit of time on holiday and we also want to do a safari at some point. We’re about to head off to France for the next nine months, where we’ve rented a house.
Other than travel, our goals are to play as much golf and do as much walking as we can. Greg has been instrumental in giving us the confidence that we can afford to live a life like this.
Unity gave me the clearest analysis of my financial position that I’ve ever had and the ongoing advice and service I’ve received since has given me a great sense of continuity. Our financial situation changes over the years and Greg’s input has helped us manage these changes. We would have been better advised had we found Unity twenty years ago. Their frequent communication and stand out technological skills really sets Unity apart.
As an adviser, Greg always makes an effort to develop a strong personal relationship with his clients. We’re supposed to be playing a game of golf together sometime, just fitting it into our hectic diary is the issue. Life gets much busier when you retire!
We approached Unity as we were nearing our retirement. We wanted to really live our retirement to the full, so making sure we had enough money was essential. Travelling was always going to be a big part of our plan.
We’d inherited some money so we needed to find a financial adviser who we trusted to advise us on how to invest it. Following a recommendation, we ended up signing up with Unity.
We met Greg, our financial adviser, and he came across as friendly and somebody we could trust to do things properly. The whole firm had an air of professionalism which immediately made us feel comfortable. We always felt confident that they had our best interests at heart.
This was six years ago. With their help, things have worked out very well since then.
We’ve been able to travel the world and make a few extra purchases while keeping our capital intact. We cruise quite a lot and have travelled to some exotic destinations. Globetrotting is the main thing that we do!
Recently, we went around South America and we’ve just come back from America and Canada. Next year we’re going to the Caribbean before heading north to Norway to see the northern lights.
What’s really stood out about Unity is their communication – they keep you informed all the time and if we want to withdraw some money we can always access it within a week.
Without Unity, we wouldn’t have been able to travel so much and be financially stable at the same time. We’ve really gained a lot from taking their advice and continue to work closely with them.
