MetLife has developed a calculator that shows how your pension savings compare to the national average, as well as giving an estimate for the age you will be able to retire. The 'Financial Fitness at Fifty' calculator was developed for the Uncertain Generation - those born between 1961 and 1981 that have complex financial needs and find it difficult to plan for retirement - in response to MetLife's study that found the average 50 year old Briton had only saved half the required amount to sustain a standard of living above the poverty line.
