Write a Will Week

Monday 12 October to Sunday 18 October is Write a Will Week! For the seventh year running, we're raising awareness of the most important duty that too many people seem to put off until tomorrow.

This year's research has revealed that well over half of the UK’s adult population - 58 per cent! - have not yet written a will. By not doing so, these people are potentially storing up big problems and stresses for their families, who could end up losing a lot of money as a result. So what are you doing about it?

Remember, it won't be you who faces the consequences of dying without a will - it will be your family and other potential beneficiaries. We all have a responsibility to make sure our affairs are neatly tied up in advance - after all, why make a difficult time even more difficult?

Where are the wills?

Who is thinking ahead and who is hoping for the best? It depends where in the UK you look. This year we find Northern Ireland, the West Midlands and the North West are the least well prepared when it comes to considering their beneficiaries, while people in the South West, North East and South East come top.
